We are organizing a session of one element of Shaolin tradition training – building and testing a students’ energy. However any donations made on the night towards the charity’s campaign will be gratefully received.

Please make sure you register before the training. To register, please send your full name and contact number to: enquiries@ukshaolintemple.com. All registration needs to be done by 23rd March. Please forward any questions you have at the same time.

Ch’an – Meditation

Meditation in Chinese is called Ch’an, in Japanese it's called Zen. What is Ch’an? Ch’an means 'not phased'. That means free from the temptation of the outer environment. When meditating, keep a peaceful and empty mind, keep a relaxed and calm heart, with no feeling of annoyance, this is called Ch’an. Ch’an is not just about sitting down and facing the wall to meditate everyday. Sitting down and meditating is just one of the ways to be. Eating, walking, sitting, even sleeping, and indeed all activates, as long as they're not done through vanity, or temptation, are Ch’an. In other words try and do everything in your daily life mindfully, through that your whole life becomes Ch'an.

Shaolin Ying Qi Gong

Shaolin Ying Qi Gong courses are divided into three levels: beginner, intermediate and advanced. Each course has an appropriate length and training programme. These courses are designed to develop mental, physical and spiritual qualities, as well as benefitting the health of the participant.

At the beginner’s level, you will be taught the theory of Qi Gong, fundamental breathing exercises and physical routines, which when combined together, builds internal and external Qi (Nei Gong, Wai Gong).

The intermediate stage teaches how to apply internal and external Qi to protect the body. In addition, conditioning will also feature.

The advanced level will study Qi Gong applications including philosophical and medical applications.
Moving from one level to the next is not always applicable to all students. It will depend on the trainer’s abilities and the student's progress. The headmaster will infrom the student when they are ready to progress.

5k Run

Fundraising for UK Shaolin Temple

5k Run

On 24th March Michelle who does kick boxing and Katie who trains in Shaolin Kungfu will be running a 5K run in Ringwood to raise money for the UK Shaolin Temple charity. We are starting off with something short but plan to make this a regular fundraising activity which will help us keep fit and also complement our martial arts.  Please sponsor us as little or as much as you can afford as every penny will make a difference. Many thanks and be inspired, you could do the same.
