Two New Disciples

This summer two very dedicated students will be joining Matt, in becoming disciples of Shi Yanming. For Max and Martine, many years of hard, committed training have meant that they are now ready for this next step. So in the hot and humid climate of a Chinese summer they will travel to the ‘North Shaolin Temple’ and pledge their commitment to Shi Yanming during a ceremony inside the temple in front of the Buddhas. In turn he will take them on as his disciples, a position accorded to a growing but only small number of students. This is a very exciting time for them both and we wish them every success for their future studies and to being able to train under them and being inspired by them during our regular classes.

North Shaolin Temple Full Movie

On 21st April 2013 the ‘North Shaolin Temple’ documentary was screened at the Empire Cinema in Poole, Dorset.  There were a good number of people attending and a great deal of laughter as those who starred in the documentary recognised themselves! This documentary tells the story of the temple’s history, how it was destroyed and re-built.  The current Abbott has made it his life’s work to resurrect this valuable Buddhist heritage and to inject life back in to its once ruined form.  Shi Yanming and his brother monks have also served to assist the Abbott in this task, by running the temple school and once again ensuring that Shaolin monks can practise their valuable arts in order to maintain their health and the ability to defend its building, not that the latter is needed any longer as feudal times have long passed!  This school also teaches foreign students who wish to sample or dedicate their lives to the training of Shaolin Arts. So like the wind whirring its energetic breath over the mountains and forests of China, so the Abbot, Shi Yanming and his brothers are also breathing their energetic life back into the temple.

 To watch the documentary

(http://www.ukshaolintemple.com/production/production.html), please forward your ‘YouTube’ email address to support@ukshaolintemple.com.  This will enable us to unblock your access.  If you do not have a YouTube account, don’t worry you can click HERE and register. This documentary is FREE for people to watch, but it would be great if you could press the donate button and give a donation to the ‘UK Shaolin Temple Charity’ as well. We are hoping to build a temple in this country and are currently trying to raise the funds to do this.  Shaolin is a complete system with the still meditative arts of sitting meditation through the medical benefits of Qi gong to the physical movements of Kung fu.  Please login, watch the documentary and donate to our charity so that we can offer the same to the people of this country, right on their own doorstep. This would mean that through your generosity, not only will you benefit, but those who are currently unable to access our services will as well. Every pound counts! Many thanks in advance for your generosity and for watching our inspiring documentary.

NORTH SHAOLIN TEMPLE

The Shaolin Temple is known all over the world for its Kung Fu training and Buddhist teachings. However the world is yet to discover that another Temple is preserving this tradition in new ways.
The North Shaolin Temple, a sub-temple to the Shaolin Temple Monastery, has a 900 year old history which is almost completely unknown outside the Shaolin tradition. The Temple’s resident monks are trying to preserve its tradition but with much of the Temple’s records and spiritual artefacts were destroyed since its first construction in 1312, they face an uphill struggle to bring the Temple back to its former glory.

This documentary introduces the history of this Temple and its current teachings. It reveals how the Temple’s monks are rebuilding its forgotten legacy by protecting the ancient Shaolin teachings, where Buddhism is lived through kung fu training. It also reveals how the Temple is developing its heritage by opening its doors to new community of students from around the world.

Fundraising 5K Run

On 24th March Katie and Michelle ran a 5K run in Ringwood for our charity. Both ladies started at the back of the field and overtook many runners to come in mid field and also beat their personal bests. It was a very cold day and spectators shivered at the finish line waiting for them to run home and wearing their bright pink tops and hats, it wasn't hard to miss them! Thank you to both ladies for their training and competing in aid of our charity.
